Sidewalk Edging from Nick's Lawn Care
Sidewalk edging is a supplemental service that we provide in addition to lawn mowing. Edging is a service that amends your landscape by clearly defining the lawn landscape from the sidewalks. Here is how it works: Over time, the line between the grass and a sidewalk will be come unclear. The grass will begin to grow over the sidewalk. This is in no way unhealthy for the lawn, but it looks sloppy. When this happens we bring in edging equipment, as shown above. That blade above the grass/ sidewalk line spins and cuts out the grass over the sidewalk. It creates a small trench that gives your landscape a trim, defined look. The process is the same for edging your driveway.
Here we a get an idea of what edging does to the grass along the sidewalk. On the right of the graphic, notice that the blade will cut a small trench out next to the concrete to create a distinct line.

In
the photo at left, workers "remove" excess grass/sod from the sidewalk once it
has been edged. In most cases, sidewalks won't have that much waste. There are
times, for instance, when the sidewalk hasn't been edged for a couple of years,
such as in the photo, where more waste will be created.
